With full acceleration, a Seaglide can jump into the moonpool without using the ladders. If a moonpool is located next to another moonpool, a double connection is possible. This allows the player to freely exit and enter the Seabase outside their vehicle without needing to use a Hatch. The Moonpool also allows the player to access their base from the water via two Ladders on either end of the bottom entrance. The 'rear' of the building is where the rotating antenna is located on the roof: the 'front' of the building dictates the direction a vehicle will face when undocking. As one cannot rotate the Moonpool with the builder, the player will have to physically position themself so that the building 'faces' the direction they want it to. It should ideally be built far enough off the seafloor that a Seamoth will not hit the ground when it is deployed, but close enough that a Prawn Suit can easily reach the entrance with its thrusters. It is recommended to have an appropriate amount of space between the bottom entrance of the Moonpool and the sea floor. To reliably charge a vehicle, one Moonpool requires at least 150 Energy, equal to two Solar Panels. The rate of charging at a Moonpool is much faster than if one were to use a Power Cell Charger: this means that docking a Prawn Suit and swapping out its two Power Cells (which the player still has full access to) is superior to building a Power Cell Charger. Docked vehicles will be charged from the base's Energy, restoring an equivalent amount of Energy to the vehicle's Power Cells. ![]() It can, however, release vehicles without power. The Seabase that the Moonpool is attached to must have power (except in Creative Mode) in order to dock vehicles. These can be found in Wrecks or the Mushroom Forest. To unlock the Moonpool Blueprint, the player must scan two of its Fragments. They can also access a Prawn Suit's shoulder-mounted Power Cells, though they will have to jump into the water to access the Power Cell of a Seamoth. From here the player can access the vehicle's upgrade slots and any cargo storage, repair the vehicle, or re-enter the vehicle upon which it is automatically released back into the water. Upon entering the access area, robotic arms will reach down and grab the vehicle out of the water, securing it for charging while a short animation plays of Ryley getting out of the vehicle. The Moonpool can dock one vehicle at a time, and is used by approaching the underside of the structure. It must be placed below water to be useful. ![]() ![]() It functions as a dock and charging station for a Seamoth or Prawn Suit and is the only room where the Vehicle Upgrade Console can be placed. The Moonpool is a Seabase module which is constructed with the Habitat Builder. ![]() ![]() If you notice that your button placement isn’t quite right after you’ve zipped and buttoned your pants, it’s easy to remove and reposition the button. It takes less than a minute: All you need to do is push the pin through the waistband fabric and attach the back. These enamel-pin-style buttons are supremely easy to install. What we liked and didn’t like about jewelry-clutch buttons The tighter you’re trying to make your pants, the more noticeable the overlapping will be, and this can look unpolished. Just keep in mind that your pants will likely overlap asymmetrically when you use an adjustable button to tighten your waistband. There are dozens of styles on Amazon, and some come emblazoned with quirky patterns-including mouse ears for Disney fans. These buttons are also great for someone who wants a quick fix with a bit of flair. Adjustable buttons are an easy way to custom-tailor those pants to your body. Some folks struggle with “waist gap” or “back gap”-a frustrating phenomenon that occurs when your pants fit snugly across the hips and butt but hang loose at the waist and lower back. If you experience weight fluctuations, you’ll benefit from an adjustable solution that works for you throughout the year. When you don’t have the funds or the time to visit a tailor, or when you don’t want to permanently alter a pair of pants, having a stash of adjustable buttons at home can be handy. Professional alterations can be pricey, and they also require some extra time and effort on your part. There are advantages and disadvantages to both kinds of buttons-more on that below. With screw-and-nut clasps, the pin’s prong is threaded so that it screws into the back of the button. Ball-locking clutches, also referred to as jewelry clutches, employ internal locking mechanisms to keep pins secure. The two types of buttons they tried have different closing mechanisms: those with a ball-locking clutch back and those with a screw-and-nut clasp. And then they took stock of how the buttons felt, looked, and held up throughout the day. They went about their days normally-working, running errands, grabbing dinner with friends. Three Wirecutter staff members tested two types of adjustable pins on denim jeans, khakis, and stretchy ponte pants. ![]() Then use the pants’ existing buttonhole to close. To tighten your waistband, move it farther away from the zipper. To let your waistband out, simply place the button closer to the zipper. Installation is easy: Pick the spot on your waistband where you want the button to be, push the pin through the fabric, and secure it in place by pressing or screwing on the back. There’s the button itself and a pin back to hold the button in place. The buttons come in two pieces and function much like an enamel pin. The beauty of this alteration hack is that it’s incredibly simple. This small block featured a cast-iron block, which included thicker bulkheads and more substantialized main bearing caps. The 350CI small-block V8 served as a hotter version of the 327CI before it. 350CI Small-Block Specifications and Technical Configurations Ultimately, this engine would go on to heavily influence key design points and architecture of the hugely popular LS engine platform to come. GM would continue offering the 350ci V8 for fitment into production models, for more than 30 years. GM offered this engine in two different formats, for the Corvette during the 1969 model year, a 300 HP version, and a larger 350 HP variant. Then, in 1969, the GM 327ci V8 was stroked to 3.48-inches, thereby increasing the engine’s displacement to 350 cubic inches. The 327ci V8 produced 350 HP and 358 lb-ft of torque when equipped with GM’s Rochester fuel injection system. Consumers could also pair the 283ci with an optional “Ramjet” fuel injection system, which would bring the engine’s total output to 259 horsepower.įurther revision again increased the small-block V8’s displacement, this time to 327 cubic-inches. In 1957, the small-block’s displacement would be increased to 283 cubic inches, thereby bolstering the engine’s output to an impressive 245 horsepower when paired with two four-barrel carburetors. Over the next decade, GM’s 265ci small-block would be revised on numerous occasions. This also served as a vast improvement over the Corvette’s prior 150 horsepower “Blue-Flame” inline-six engine. This initial 265ci “Mighty Mouse” small-block was rated to produce 195 horsepower, which was relatively impressive for the era in which it was produced. ![]() This was especially concerning, as the 1950s were a time when many automotive manufacturers began to dramatically increase their performance standards.įinally in 1955, after two years of production, the Corvette was offered with an optional small-block V8 powerplant. 350 Cubic-Inch Small Block Historyĭuring the earliest days of the Corvette’s initial production run, America’s sports car was regularly ridiculed for being underpowered at most every turn. This platform, in itself, would serve as a mainstay of the Corvette line for over three decades to come. In a bid to further cement the Corvette’s performance legacy, subsequent modifications to these earlier engines were made, thereby giving birth to one of General Motors’ most illustrious engine platforms. The 350ci V8 was actually a further extension of GM’s decade-old small-block engine series. Chevrolet and the 350 cubic-inch V8 go together like pancakes and syrup, carrying a long history that dates back more than 50 years. ![]() If you were to say the words “350 small-block”, any automotive enthusiast worth their salt would automatically respond by jumping headlong into a discussion of famed Chevrolet powerplants.
